ACCRINGTON Stanley and Hyndburn Borough Council have signed a new sponsorship deal.

The Council have announed an "in kind" deal where they will provide training facilities at King Georges for the Reds and also contribute to the cost of the rental of the football ground which would otherwise cost £22,000 per season.

Stanley expect to use the facilities at King Georges about three times a week to train and chief executive Rob Heys says it is a two-way deal.

"We will use it for training between Monday and Friday and hopefully our groundsman Gary Lewis will do some work there so it will be a two-way partnerhsip.

"As regarding the ground, we lease it off the council at a fixed rate at the moment.

"There was a recent ground review but the council have kept it at the same rate as part of this deal."

Council Leader Peter Britcliffe said: "Accrington Stanley are one of our best assets and it is really important that we support them with this sponsorship.

"Stanley play a big part in putting the area on the map and so are helping us with our regeneration activity so it is vital we support them in this way."

Chairman Eric Whalley said: "We have a really positive relationship with everyone at the council at the moment.

"A lot of hard work is being put into taking the borough forward and we want Accrington Stanley to be a major part of that."
