ACCRINGTON Stanley's weekend match against Luton Town fell victim to the cold snap on Friday, and the race is now on to make sure the Fraser Eagle Stadium can stage the Reds' next game against Brentford on Tuesday.

The postponement - Stanley's fourth of the season - came after a pitch inspection on Friday found a frozen pitch.

With worries over whether the pitch will be fit for play by Tuesday, fans were asked to go to the FES on Saturday morning to help to clear the playing surface of snow - with the incentive of a free pie and a pint for those who volunteer.

Stanley will hold a pitch inspection at 12.30 tomorrow (Tuesday) afternoon to decide if the Brentford  game will go ahead tomorrow night.

Chief Executive Rob Heys said: "We are clearing snow off the pitch but we are optimistic."
