STANLEY'S assistant manager Jimmy Bell says the Reds have stepped up their hunt for an experienced centre half.

Accrington have the worst record in League Two with 60 goals conceded in their 32 games.

The bosses have been critical of their backline and Bell admitted: "We need a big dominant centre half as every team in the league has one.

"We need a leader, someone to rally the troops and with experience.

"We have a few irons in the fire but it is hard to attract these players to Accrington at the minute be it our form or whatever. We are trying our best."

He has also targetted five wins to stop them looking over their shoulders at the drop zone. They are eight points off second off bottom place but have lost six of their last eight matches.

"We need four or five more wins out of remaining games. We believe we have got enough here to get us out of the sticky situation we are in and we have been unlucky in our last two games against Lincoln and Brentford.

"We have played well but haven't taken our chances and then fallen for the sucker punch.

"Talk is cheap though and we have got to respond and start winning games, especially at home."

The Reds have two big games at the FES over the next eight days - against Stockport on Saturday and Brentford next Tuesday.
