JUNIOR FOOTBALL: Rishton United under 15s are heading back to the First Division after a 13-0 win over 10-man Wilpshire Wanderers.

An early goal from Dylan Cross settled Rishton into their rhythm and they went on to score anothe five before half-time with Adam Aspinall, Brad Campbell, another from Cross and the fifth from Dylan Palmer.

The second half went much the same way with keeper Josh Higham, playing out in the second half, scoring with a header. The scorers were: Adam Aspinall (three), Brad Campbell (three), Dylan Cross (two), Josh Higham, Lewis Hall, Dylan Palmer and Kieran Royal (two). Man of the Match went to Dylan Cross.

The Under nines Blue came from behind to beat Wilpshire Wanderers Red 3-1. Rishton were behind at the break and needed the half-time team talk and a quick change of positions to turn them around.

Rishton got back on level terms when Simon Avison’s corner found Sam Steer whose initial shot was mis-hit and then he smashed the ball into the top corner of the net for his 13th goal of the season.

It wasn’t long before Rishton were ahead - a great move between four players and more good work from the referee’s Man of the Match Avison, who beat two defenders and crossed for Callum Monahan to slot in for his seventh of the season.

Then one final change saw Adam Devine come back on for the hard-working and industrious Callum Monahan and play as striker. With the manager’s instructions to ‘get a goal and kill the game off’ - he did just that. With five minutes to go, he burst through midfield using his pace to good effect then slotted past the advancing keeper.

Alex Jennings got the Manager’s Man of the Match.

The Under 12s beat Brierfield Celtic Blue 3-2 in a friendly. Keenan O’Carroll put Rishton ahead with a trademark left foot shot from the wing.

Liam Clough put United further ahead to lead 2-0 at half-time. O’Carroll made it three after the break but two goals in three minutes put Celtic back in it. And Brierfield were then awarded a penalty but keeper Pat McGregor saved it to seal a United win. Man of the Match Nathan Shorrock.

GREAT HARWOOD: The Under 14s continued their winning run with a hard-fought 5-2 victory over Blue Star and got their revenge for a 3-2 defeat earlier in the season.

Harwood grabbed an early goal with a clever back header from leading scorer Karl Sutton before Blue Star equalised

Earlier in the season, the side would have crumbled but instead they got the bit between their teeth and were rewarded by another Sutton goal. A third goal soon followed after more pressure and Sutton completed his hat-trick.

The fourth goal was the pick of the bunch; Danny Smith stopped a Blue Star attack and played the ball down the right for Joe Blackledge. He found captain Jack Hargreaves who slipped a pass between two defenders for George Carter to run onto and finish with a first time shot into the roof of the net to make it 4-1 at half-time.

Blue Star came out all guns blazing and had several good chances to get back into the game. However the back four held out and keeper Tommy Achaski pulled off a stunning save when he scooped the ball clear when the opponent had a clear shot of the goal.

Great Harwood came through this onslaught and a quick counter-attack led to the fifth goal.

Arron Phillipson hit the bar and it rebounded to George Carter whose quick reactions saw him head it goalwards and it bounce off the bar once again. Luckily, though, it dropped to Phillipson to side foot home. Scott Sykes was Man of the Match.

The Under 14s then hit a perfect 10 against Oswaldtwistle Rangers. They opened the scoring when a Billy Hargreaves corner was headed home by Ryan Mitchell. A second goal soon followed as George Carter finished off a fine move down the left hand side with a left foot strike.

Great Harwood pressed for more goals and manager Nigel Sutton changed to a more attacking 3-4-3 formation and their dominance soon paid off. Danny Smith scored the third after another good move down the left. Karl Sutton scored the fourth with a typical poacher’s finish before an own goal from a fine Smith cross made it 5-0 at half-time.

The sixth goal came from a goalmouth scramble - Danny Smith tapping in at the far post for his second of the game.

Two well taken goals from left winger Arron Phillipson soon made in 8-0. Joe Blackledge and captain Jack Hargreaves sealed the well earned victory as they reached the magical double figure score. Striker Karl Sutton was Man of the Match.

The Under nines drew 1-1 with Blackburn United. Fifth placed Rovers thought they had claimed all three points four minutes from time when Douglas hit home his 17th goal of the season but Blackburn United hit back two minutes later for a share of the points.

Then, three goals inside seven minutes in the first half, secured all three points for the Under nines against Rossendale Valley Wasps in their next match. But they weren’t finished and added another four goals in the second half.

Douglas and Sagar both collected a hat-trick each and linked up well for each other’s goals.

Sagar set up Douglas for the first of the game and minutes later Sagar was allowed to run with the ball from near the halfway line, he put a great ball into the box for Douglas, who made no mistake from close range.

Douglas collected his second hat-trick of the season three minutes before the break when Sagar broke with the ball to find Douglas inside the box to shoot into the bottom corner of the net.

Douglas then returned the favour in the second half when he set up Sagar for his first of the match. Sagar got his second and Rovers fifth when he slotted a loose ball home from a tight angle.

Valley got a goal back but Douglas got his fourth when he was clean through. Sagar got his hat-trick five minutes before time when he lobbed the keeper from outside the box.

Rovers 10th league win of the season has moved them back up to fifth and they are still in with a chance of finishing in the top three.

ST JOSEPH'S: The Under 13s came out on top after a tense battle with high flying Lammack. The Saints were disappointed to go behind after creating a number of chances to take the lead.

With six minutes to go, Devon Booth got on the end of a free-flowing move involving George Gibson and Liam Woodhead and he stuck the ball in the corner of the goal.
