AN INSTANTLY forgettable game but Accrington Stanley picked up a deserved point in their quest for the Conference play-offs.
The first shot on target didn't come until the 75th minute when Shrews skipper Darren Tinson's point blank header was well saved by Stanley shot-stopper Jon Kennedy.
Up until that point there had been just five attempts on goal - and all of them were just half chances. But neither side were helped by a bobbly pitch which made it difficult to pass the ball.
"It was difficult for both sides - the pitch dictated that," said boss John Coleman. "It was hard to get any momentum or any passing going. We came here with a plan to try and frustrate them and get on top of them in the second half. We kept them at arms length for long periods but we didn't really have the threat up front we would have liked."
Stanley's best chance came from a Paul Mullin header on 83 minutes which was just wide.
But Coleman has an injury headache for Tuesday night's clash at home to Tamworth. Paul Cook fell awkwardly on four minutes and limped off while Ged Brannan is also battling to be fit.
"We will have to monitor both of them. But Tamworth is one of our games in hand and we need to win our home games and take points away from home to make the play-offs - it is as simple as that."
