GARY Roberts thinks the victory over previously unbeaten Grays will be the spur for Accrington Stanley to kick on and clinch the Conference title.

Winger Roberts was the Man of the Match in the Reds victory over the then league leaders live on Sky television on Saturday.

"Grays are the best in the league, supposedly, and if you can beat the best in the league, then you have got to say you are going to win the league," said Roberts. "We deserved to win against Grays. It was the biggest game of our season and they are flying high but we worked hard as a team.

"And, although we do leak goals, we are always going to score. We have attack-minded players like myself, Ian Craney and Steve Jagielka and we all enjoy scoring goals."

And with four home games now, starting tonight against Forest Green, followed by Southport, Altrincham and Kidderminster, Roberts thinks Stanley can take over at the top - and stay there.

"No disrespect to the four teams we are playing, but we should win. You should win your home games and hopefully we will be going into Christmas with 12 points."
