STANLEY crashed to a surprising defeat at the hands of a Stevenage side that played with only 10 men for more than two-thirds of the match.

The Reds were firmly in the driving seat when, just after Boro's Michael Warner was sent off in the 25th minute, Steve Jagielka put Stanley ahead.

But the dismissal seemed to spur on the home side, and an equaliser from Jon Nurse, followed by a Dino Maamria penalty put them in front.

A late own goal from Robbie Williams completed the misery for Stanley, who now have to pick themselves up for a trip to Rotherham in the LDV Vans Trophy tomorrow night (Tuesday).
