The Midnight Football Leagues could return to the Hyndburn Leisure Centre after a successful first season.

Staged on Friday nights on the Hyndburn astro-turf, the leagues ran for six weeks, culminating in a friendly competition against teams from the local YNOT project last month.

Matches took place from 7-9.30pm and it was free of charge for teams to take part, which helped attract over 75 young people aged 12-19.

Hyndburn Leisure delivered the project, in partnership with Lancashire Sport, Lancashire FA, Street Games and the Hyndburn Community Safety Partnership. Adam Blezard, Hyndburn Leisure’s 2012 Legacy

Officer, said: “The Midnight Leagues were a huge success.

“It was the first time they had been held in the borough so to attract over 75 young people was a great result.

“We are hoping to run them again later in the year.”
