Stanley's season came to a disappointing end as they were comfortably beaten at home by Oxford.

The Reds secured League Two survival last week with a win at Bristol Rovers last week and it showed as they lacked the verve which had driven them to safety.

Oxford, whose play-off hopes were already over, offered little more in a dismal first half. But second-half goals by James Constable, Deane Smalley and Sean Rigg prevented Stanley finishing the season with a six-match unbeaten run.

Accy's Lee Molyneux fired wide from distance in the first half, while Padraig Amond couldn't quite reach Michael Liddle's low cross.

Oxford replied with Alfie Potter volleying wide from a Rigg cross.

Molyneux's cross was then just too long for Rommy Boco before Molyneux dragged a right-footed effort wide.

But the visitors went closest to scoring before the break, Rigg cutting inside right-back Peter Murphy and forcing a fine save from Paul Rachubka.

Just after the interval, Liddle played a corner short and Molyneux's 20-yard strike was deflected narrowly over.

The Reds then had a nervy moment as Andrew Dawber, a half-time replacement for Rachubka, was beaten to a long ball by Constable.

And although the striker went down as he rounded the Reds keeper, Dawber's arm only brushed Constable, who was booked for going down too easily.

However, the Oxford striker made amends in the 64th minute, latching onto Potter's pass and firing into the bottom corner from the edge of the box.

Three minutes later, Murphy fouled Constable in the Accy box and Smalley gave Dawber no chance from the spot, firing low to his right.

With two minutes left, Molyneux was shown a straight red card for a foul on Potter, and moments later Tyrone Marsh squared for Rigg to tap into an empty net.
