THE support was great during our FA Cup win over Notts County on Tuesday night and we were delighted to give the fans a win. It was nice to get another goal too.

I just got myself in there and Shay McCartan put the ball in. I’m not quite sure how it got there, I was only a few yards out, but I stuck my head on it. Roy Carroll gave me a kick on the head but I don’t mind as long as the ball hits the back of the net!

I didn’t know the gaffer (John Coleman) didn’t see me as captain material before. Since he came back in I feel we’ve played well as a team and I’m playing well myself.

John and (assistant manager) Jimmy Bell have said when myself and Andy Procter don’t do well, the team tends not to do well. Whatever the game’s like, we feel we’ve got the attributes to cope, so hopefully I can keep those performances up and keep chipping in with some goals.

Since Cambridge last played we’ve played twice. I’m sure they were here on Tuesday but if we can replicate our performance there’s no reason why we can’t get back to winning ways in the league.

Momentum is massive, it breeds confidence, and we’ll have Sean Maguire and John O’Sullivan available again Saturday.

Piero Mingoia hadn’t played for weeks – he wasn’t even on the bench at Carlisle – but he came in on Tuesday and was fantastic. It was the same with Michael Liddle and Marcus Carver. They’ve given the gaffer some selection problems for Saturday.

I’m also taking part in Movember. I’ve never grown a ‘tache before and I’m a bit disappointed with it. The lads can’t see it from a distance, it’s that bad. The wife’s giving me stick too, but it’s for a great cause so I’ll keep going.
