MICHAEL Liddle is confident Stanley can complete the job and dump League One Notts County out of the FA Cup on Tuesday night.
The Magpies visit the Store First Stadium for a first-round replay, with a home tie against Yeovil up next for the winners.
“We definitely fancy our chances,” said the fit-again Liddle. “I don’t think they had too many chances and we know that we can step it up and play better than we did last Sunday.
“Hopefully back at home, and in the environment we’re used to, we can play some better football.
“If we can keep our defensive shape, get stuck in and create some more chances then hopefully things will go our way and we can make it through to the second round.”
Liddle returned at Meadow Lane in last Sunday's 0-0 draw to make his first appearance since the opening day of the season and manager John Coleman felt he was Stanley’s star man.
The 24-year-old has been battling to overcome a knee injury the last three months and praised Stanley physio Paul Morgan for his support.
“It was such a good feeling to be out there,” he said. “It was even more special that it was in the FA Cup. Every player wants to play in those games and I just tried to enjoy myself really.
“It was unbelievably frustrating to be out,” he added. “It’s been one of those things that just seemed to niggle on and I’ve had more questions than answers.
“But everyone’s been great with me and I’ve done a lot of work with Paul Morgan.
“He’s been fantastic and it’s made it easier to go in when you’re working with people you enjoy seeing.
“He’s special, he’s got limited resources. He’s just by himself, he’s working with you day in, day out, and very rarely has a day off.
“And that’s been massive for me coming back because I feel fit because of the work I’ve done with Morgs. I don’t feel like I’m behind with the boys. I’ve been able to keep up and I’ve been sharp enough.”
Liddle was also glad to see Kal Naismith return at Notts County following compassionate leave.
“Kal’s such a character, you always want him around,” he said. “He’s come back and seems in good humour. He just wants to get on with his football now and it’s a big bonus to have him back.”
