A TEENAGER from Huncoat has flagged up his success after being named Young Referee of the Year.
Anthony Parkinson scooped the honour from the Accrington Referees' Society.
He has been recognised after officiating at matches in the Hyndburn and District Boys' League and the Accrington Boys' League for the past three years.
He also runs the line in the North West Counties League Division Two and is set to start refereeing West Lancashire League games next year.
Former St Christopher's High School pupil Anthony, 18, of Station Road, is thrilled after picking up a trophy for his efforts on the pitch.
He said: "It's the first time I've won anything like this so I'm delighted. Hopefully I can continue and become a full-time referee in the future."
Anthony, who has a brother Gary and sister Laura and lives with parents Pasquale Cirino and Sheila Parkinson, is about to sit his A-level exams in law, PE, media and film studies at Blackburn College and is hoping to take up a place at Lancaster University studying law after the summer.
