Former Accrington Girls and Ladies goalkeeper Rachel Brown was hoping to lead Everton to the Women's Premier League Cup final at Rochdale last night.

The 29-yearold was in goal for Everton against Leeds Carnegie at Spotland in the women’s showpiece.

"The last time I won a cup was playing for St Christophers in 1996 so I am desperate to get my hands on some silverware," said Brown.

"Everton won the cup two years ago but I didn’t play so it is a massive game for me."

Everton beat seven-times cup winners Arsenal in the semi-final while Leeds saw off Chelsea.

"It was fantastic to get one over on Arsenal as they are the team to beat in women's football." Brown continued.

"And for the final to be us against Leeds Carnegie is fantastic news for the north."."

Leeds boast seven current England internationals include the country's most famous female footballer, Sue Smith.
