Hyndburn Athletic Club are racing towards glory after finishing third in the Sportshall Athletics event and receiving 12 county call-ups.

There were three competitions held at Blackpool over the winter and Hyndburn finished just behind Preston who won and Blackpool in second overall.

Hyndburn’s Under 13 and Under 15 boys both finished runners-up in their age group.

The Under 11 girls finished sixth, Under 13 girls were fourth, Under 15 girls third and Under 11 boys eighth.

During the three matches, there were three athletes of the match – Ellie Beech, an Under 11 girl; Hasnain Ehsan (Under 13 boys) and Louis Ofoluwa (Under 15 boys).

Hasnain scored 78 points out of a maximum of 84 over the three matches while Louis scored 67 points and both boys where the highest point scores in their age group.

Over the three matches athletes are also selected for the Lancashire teams and this year Hyndburn AC had 12 athletes selected which is an incredible achievement.

For the Lancashire Under 11 team Oliver Chambers and Dominic Milligan were given county honours for the boys while Nicola Moynihan, Ellie Beech – who was the girls captain for her outstanding performances – and Lois Mctiffin were selected for the girls.

For the Lancashire Under 13s team, Hasnain Ehsan and Jayden Coyne were selected for the boys and Millie Richardson, Blythe Fourie and Abigail Bradwell for the girls.

For the Lancashire Under 15 team Louis Ofoluwa was chosen for the boys and Emma Duckworth got a county call-up for the girls.

The Under 11s competed at SportsCity, Manchester while the Under 13s and 15s will be going through their paces at Wigan tomorrow.
