GREAT Harwood will aim to lift the Division Two Trophy by beating derby rivals Colne at Clitheroe FC on Monday night (ko 7.45).

The game will be the final match of the season for Harwood and they would love to get one over on the NWCL Division Two champions and clinch some silverware.

They have played Colne twice in the last two weeks. The first was a goalless draw at the Showground while they drew 1-1 at Holt House last Saturday.

Scott Gizon had opened the scoring for Colne on three minutes but Andy Taylor tapped home the equaliser eight minutes later in front of a crowd of 282.

Bobby Harris pulled off a couple of good saves for Harwood while the forwards tested Ross Baxter at the other end. The game, though, was held up for 30 minutes as Colne's Steve Whittaker broke his leg.

"He just crashed into something on the side of the ground as he and Darren Rodgers were chasing a ball," said boss John Hughes. "It was awful. His leg just shattered. Darren couldn't look."

But Hughes is hoping it is third time lucky as his side try and get the better of Colne in the final.

"It would be great to win. Scott Gizon is their main man in the engine room and Ryan Parr dealt with him well on Saturday - in the air and on the ground."

"They won the championship but haven't beaten us yet this season so we would like to carry on our unbeaten run against them. A lot of people said we should have won on Saturday so we will have to try and do it in the final."

Meanwhile, Harwood finished their league season in style on Wednesday with a 4-2 win at Norton.

It moved them up to fifth place and means they could be in NWCL Division One when the league's are restructured next season - although this won't be officially known until June. The top four are definitely up and Harwood will have to wait and see.

Paul Mashiter was the hat-trick hero as Harwood scored two goals in the final two minutes to seal what could be a crucial three points.
