MICK Taylor warmed up to his debut at Lakeside by taking on the BDO World Darts Champion Mark Webster at the Stanley Street Club last Thursday.

Mick, 40, will travel to Surrey in January as he aims to become the John Smith’s People Darts champion after winning the North West regional qualifiers at Blackburn.

He is down to the last eight in the first year of the contest and victory would bring him a 12-month’s sponsorship from John Smith’s and £14,000 for charity.

World champ Mark Webster came to Accrington to give Mick a few tips about appearing on the big stage.

But Mark, who defends his title next month, also turned the night into an exhibition taking on 10 players from the Stanley Street club - and showing his prowess by not losing a single game.
