ACCRINGTON Golf Club will be cheering on Laura Banks and Agnes Crohill from a far this week.

The two are off to compete in Marrakech in Morocco after reaching the prestigious National Finals of the Ladies Moroccan Salver.

Laura, whose handicap is 10, and Agnes, who plays off 20, are competing together for the first time.

They played a qualifying round at Accrington and won that and then went through to the regional finals at Birchwood in Warrington - there were 10 regional finals - where they again came out on top.

Now 10 pairs from England will battle it out in Morocco next week in the event, in aid of the Douglas Bader foundation.

Laura and Agnes leave on Monday and Accrington GC has sponsored their flights to Heathrow before they meet up with the rest of the competitors and swap winter for sun.

Their all-expenses-paid trip will include a stay at the five-star Palmeraie Golf Palace Complex and they will play on the Robert Trent Jones golf course that adjoins the hotel

They will go round the course before the finals day which is on Thursday.

They are the first Accrington pair to make the National Finals.

"We are obviously excited, it will be a good experience," said Laura.

Lady Bader OBE, the president of the Douglas Bader Foundation, will present the winners with the trophy.
