STRIKER Declan Watson is aiming to be a big hit after being signed by Blackburn Rovers - aged just eight!

The St Peter's and St Paul's Primary School pupil has been at the Ewood Academy since he was five years old and the young Rishton striker has been snapped up on a one-year contract.

The youngster was at Accoutre for two years and won their Player of the Year for the age group six-16 and they were also crowned champions in the Penwortham League thanks to countless goals by the young star.

Declan trains at Blackburn five days a week but also had interest from Manchester United, Everton, and Liverpool.

However, as a Rovers fan, he chose Blackburn - and hopes he can continue finding the back of the net for years to come.
