GREAT Harwood boss John Hughes is part of a group who are bringing 'the World's No1 Soccer Skills Teaching Method' to Hyndburn.

Coerver is a system of coaching which allows players to improve their football talents by working on co-ordination, mobility, flexibility and speed.

It is sponsored by adidas and endorsed by FIFA as well as clubs such as Real Madrid and Arsenal and is a coaching system used all over the world.

England World Cup hat-trick hero Sir Geoff Hurst said: "Coerver Coaching's focus on teaching individual skills is, in my opinion, the best way to improve the next generation of players."

And Liverpool manager Gerard Houllier said: "In my opinion, the Coerver program is the best technical skills teaching method."

A group, therefore, have decided to set up Coerver Coaching Development Centres all over Lancashire.

Manchester United Skills Development Coach Peter Duckworth along with Hughes, an ex-professional at Man United, Leeds, West Brom and Bury will be joined by Manchester United scout Purvis Ali and other coaches who will teach a six week course at Hyndburn Sports Centre.

"Junior football is huge in this area and we are hoping this course will compliment it," said Peter Duckworth.

"It is suitable for perhaps players who want to go into Academies or players who have been released from Academies and want to get involved again."

The course will run every Thursday from April 27 to June 1 and, for five-eight years olds it will be from 5-6pm and from nine-12 year olds it will be from 6-7pm.

The cost of the course is £30 and an application form can be collected from the Observer offices or for more information telephone 01254 387422/07812 212568 or email coerverlancs@hotmail.co.uk .

Meanwhile, Harwood will be looking to bounce back after losing 2-1 to Ashton last Saturday.

Hughes has admitted it has almost certainly ruined their chances of a top four finish but the Harwood chief is hoping they re-found their form on Wednesday night when they made the trip to Daisy Hill.

They face Norton at the Interlink tomorrow (Sat, 3pm) and then it is a big local derby at Darwen (ko 3pm) on Monday.
