TEAM Hyndburn will be sending 10 teams to the Eighth Annual Lancashire Youth Games which take place at Lancaster on Saturday.

The borough will be going head to head with 14 local authorities in Lancashire in more than 15 sports - which is a record.

Team Hyndburn will be represented by more than 100 participants from various schools in athletics, boccia, girls basketball, girls cricket, gymnastics, football, tag rugby union and a boys and girls rugby league team.

Assistant Sports Development Officer George Cull said: "We would like to wish all of "Team Hyndburn" the best of luck on the day of the games and hope that they give their all.

"The main thing we want is that the particpants enjoy themselves and decide to continue playing sport."

The Youth Games, sponsored by family bakers Warburtons, is the single biggest multi-sports event in the county and more than 2500 children with compete across three sites at Salt Ayre vying to return with medals.

The competition starts at 10am and finishes around 5pm.
