GREAT Harwood Otter Jordan Theaker raced to six gold medals and a national qualifying time in the North Lancashire Age Group Swimming Gala at Lancaster.

The 11-year-old finished top of his age group thanks to his six top spots, one silver medal and three bronze medals and he proved he can take like a duck to water to anything in the pool as the medals came in a mixture of distance, sprint and medley races.

Jordan currently also trains with the newly-formed Swim Lancashire Squad at the East Centre with ex-Olympian Rob Greenwood.

He began the gala in fine style with first place in the 100m individual medley followed by a third in the 50m butterfly.

He won his next event - the 200m butterfly - with nearly 12 seconds to spare.

The 50m backstroke saw him keep up his record of top three places with third position in a tight race which saw less than half a second seperate the top three.

But Jordan comfortably took top honours in his next event the 200m backstroke.

He missed out on first place by fractions of a second in the 200m IM to claim silver and it was even closer in the 50m freestyle where he tied for top place.

Jordan re-asserted his winning ways in the 200m freestyle to claim yet another top spot, a record he kept up in the 400m freestyle.

His third bronze medal came in the 200m backstroke event where, despite a tiring day, he battled it out all the way to the finish.

Not content with numerous podium finishes, Jordan capped the meet of with a National Qualifying Time in the 200m backstroke.

He will now make the trip to Sheffield later this year where he will compete against the nations best swimmers in the National Finals.
