RISHTON were saved from defeat by the weather on Saturday - while the other three Hyndburn sides lost in the Musbury Fabrics Lancashire League.

Burnley pro Kerry Jeremy stunned Rishton with 8-37 as they made just 98.

Opener Shaun Wyse (41) and pro James Franklin (24) had started well before the West Indies man wreaked havoc.

Burnley were 53-1 in reply before the rain came down and saved the Blackburn Road side.

Enfield might have wished for bad weather as they still search for their first league win of the campaign.

They were boosted with the arrival of South African pro Alviro Petersen but he couldn't stop them slipping to a 190-run defeat against Rawtenstall.

They hit a formidable 245-7. Neil Holmes took four wickets but it was 4-104 as Rawtenstall charged on.

Enfield managed just 55 in reply - the lowest score of the season - with Petersen top scoring with 28.

Church looked comfortable as Ruven Peiris (59) and captain Phil Sykes (34) opened well against East Lancs.

However, the rest of the order quickly collapsed as Hugh Doyle did the damage, recording the best amateur bowling figures of the season with 9-47.

Westwell took 4-59 but East Lancs passed the total with three wickets in hand, winning on run-rate.

And Accrington slipped to their third successive loss against second place Bacup.

The Lanehead paid man Chris Simpson hit 11 fours and two sixes in his knock of 90 while fellow opener Peter Thompson made 64. Accrington pro Tama Canning took 5-96 but they made a tricky 218.

Adam Wilson top scored for Accrington with 34 but the rest could do little to stop them slipping to a 106 run loss - and they slipped down the table.
