Lee Preston proved age is no barrier as the 35-year-old clinched the Senior Area Full Contact Kickboxing title in Hyndburn.
And now he will challenge for the vacant English Super-middleweight title in July in Accrington.
The Fit to Fight boxer faced East Lancashire Predators fighter Mark Ryder for the area title and won on a unanimous points verdict.
Preston, a southpaw, only took up the sport to get fit for football and then got hooked and started entering competitions, with a record of won 11, lost one.
And he may be favourite for the English title against Lance Hall, a former amateur boxer. He has already beaten Hall on points in an earlier fight in Birmingham.
