MARTIAL ARTISTS Steve Burton and Jason Curtis have joined forces to run what will be one of the largest full-time Martial Arts training centres in East Lancashire.

Steve is one of the highest graded people in Britain in four different styles of Kung Fu. He competes regularly in China and has won gold medals twice in national competitions there.

Jason has trained for 17 years, largely in the Japanese-style martial art of Ninjitsu and Kick Boxing but has also trained in Thai Boxing and Western Boxing.

He was one of the youngest people in the world to be graded 5 Dan Shidoshi by Grand Master Masaaki Hatsumu in August 1999. He is also currently English professional full-contact Kick Boxing Champion.

The two have decided to combine all this experience into one gym.

"It is a milestone to combine Japanese and Chinese styles as they have always had such convicting views and beliefs," said Jason.

"But we have decided to put our knowledge together to produce better students and develop martial arts training further.

"Steve and I have taught a wide range of abilities from the police and armed forces to professional fighers but we are hoping for an influx of beginners."

They will be based on Dale Street and there will be classes for children as young as three. Opening times can be found at the gym.
