Seven Fit to Fight boxers won top spot in the North West Open at Shadsworth Sports Centre in Blackburn.

It was a top tournament with more than 100 competitors from all over the North West taking part in around 20 categories.

There was two fighting arenas run at the same time which meant the action was non-stop for the Accrington club.

And nine-year-old Jake Hargreaves (30kg); 11-year-old Brandon Hargreaves (35kg), 11-year-old Daniel Battrick (40kg); 14-year-old Hamayoon Kasser (50kg); 15-year-old Ryan Haworth (55kg), 15-year-old Hamzah Aslam (75kg) and Peter Coates (85kg) all came through to take the top prizes.

Fit to Fight coach Billy Battrick said: "They all did well because these tournaments are a real test of endurance as, if you win your first fight, you keep fighting until only the best two fighters are left in your group.

"It was an excellent day with seven first place winners and nine runners-up.

"All our fighters fought brilliantly with 16 fighters getting through to the the finals making it an exciting day for the gym.

"We would also like to thank our gym sponsors Hurns Catering and Cuisine World for their support."
