DO you know a sports club which deserves recognition for the work they do? How about a committed sports coach who is constantly striving for improvement and providing fun activities for the young people they work with?

Leisure in Hyndburn Sports Development Team are holding their second annual Sports Awards evening. It is being supported by the Chaigley Trust, who are making a donation, and will take place at Accrington Town Hall on Friday 7 July.

The Sports Development Team are now calling on the people of Hyndburn to come forward and submit nominations for the judging panel to decide. The categories are as follows:

Warburton's Rising Star Award - Presented to a young, talented athlete who is displaying great potential in their chosen sport, possibly even a 2012 London Olympics hopeful.

Hyndburn Community Club of the Year - This award is for a local sports club who have become an integral part of their local community, providing activities for a range of people in a safe, fun and friendly manner.

Hyndburn Coach of the Year - Given to a local coach who goes the 'extra mile' for their participants, working with beginners and developing excellence.

Hyndburn Young Volunteer of the Year - Aged between 16 and 24 this is a young person who is involved in local sport as a volunteer, assisting within clubs in coaching or administration roles.

Hyndburn Special Recognition Award - Given to recognise the commitment and individual has made to sport in Hyndburn, perhaps performing a thankless task for a number of years.

Hyndburn Soccer Taskforce 'Services to Football' - This award is judged by the Hyndburn Soccer Taskforce and is to recognise a local persons contribution to the development of football.

Hyndburn Cricket Development 'Services to Cricket' - This award is judged by the Hyndburn Cricket Development Group to reward a local persons contribution to the development of cricket.
