With the season now completed with the two cup finals, once again the plans are already being made for next year.

In the Times Cup Final both St Nicholas and Stanhill found themselves involved in a thrilling and closely fought match right until the last event.

Stanhill took the lead after the mixed doubles had been played taking seven of the 12 games, but St Nicholas responded in the level doubles and started to close the gap.

Sylvia Mulla from St Nicholas was the only person to win all her games, but the damage had been done leaving Stanhill victors by 26 aces on the night.

In the Smith Cup Final this turned out to be a competitive match with Whitehall taking the lead in the mixed doubles over Independent B.

Whitehall were forced to play without the services on their number one gent but were rather surprised that they had opened up a narrow lead.

Things became different in the level doubles when Independent’s put on the pressure, backed by Karen Moore, who was the only player to win of all her games.

At the final total they discovered that they had taken the match by just seven aces, but with and added handicap of 23, returned a formal victory by 30 aces.

Whitehall perhaps should have taken this match, but dropped vital games in the ladies doubles and this subsequently proved to be the turning point of the match.
