Lloyd returns

THE return of David Lloyd brought a bumper crowd to Accrington Cricket Club on Saturday.

The straight-talking 61-year-old took a break from Sky commentating duties but was still filmed in Lancashire League action against Haslingden.

Although his home-town side lost, ‘Bumble’ enjoyed the day - bowling two overs, taking a catch - although he did also drop one - and getting to bat alongside son Graham.

"It was an outstanding day," said Lloyd senior.

"Apart from the result everything was good. I really enjoyed it.

"I think there will be a small slot on Cricket AM a week on Saturday and no doubt I will get plenty of stick - especially if they show the dropped catch.

"And Mike Atherton and Nasser Hussain will be lining up to have a go. It was one of those things though.

"I thought it all went pretty well. And the club were thrilled to get some money through the gate so it was a success.

"I got plenty of stick on the pitch too but they have no idea if they think that is pressure!

"Haslingden were the better team on the day but I will make myself available again," added the former England player and coach.
