A Clayton-le-Moors woman has signed up to a charity walk in memory of her mum.

Nicola Hodgkinson’s mum Dorothy spent three days in East Lancashire Hospice in 2009 before she passed away.

The 29-year-old litigation executive said she was determined to do something positive in her mum’s memory and has now signed up for the VIP Starlight Walk organised by the hospice.

She said: “Mum was in the hospice for a short time, but it made a big impact on me. The level of care was unbelievable and could not be faulted.

“Mum was a nurse and knew how wonderful a place it is. The staff were so supportive; they were there for the whole family.”

Nicola will be joined on the walk by five other friends who have all agreed to support her in memory of Dorothy.

She has also urged other people in the area to sign up for the eight-mile night-time walk on Saturday, June 22.

The fully-marshalled walk starts at 10pm at the Soccerdome in Guide, Blackburn and ends at the same venue the following morning.
