An ambulance worker had to be rescued by firefighters after getting stuck in a lift.

Two crews from Hyndburn were called to Springbrook House on Canal Street in Clayton-le-Moors after the woman got stuck in a lift between floors.

Richard Edney, of Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service, said: “We had to call out the key holder and they came out and managed to get the lift working and open.

“There wasn't a particular emergency so there was no life at risk waiting for the lift to start working.”

The incident happened at around 12.15am on Wednesday, April 30 and the woman was stuck in the lift for around 20 minutes.

A North West Ambulance Service spokesperson said they were called to the care home to treat a male resident who was complaining of chest pains.

He wasn't taken to hospital and received treatment at the home.
