A Healthy Living Festival will take place in Accrington next weekend.

Experts will be on hand to offer advice and practical help and teach people about healthy eating and getting into healthy activities during the free event, at Accrington Town Hall, on Friday May 23, between 10am and 2pm.

From help stopping smoking to diabetes advice, and homemade soup kits to free blood pressure tests, there is bound to be something for everyone.

More than 20 local groups are involved, including over 50’s belly dancing, the ever-popular Zumba, and cardio pulmonary resuscitation CPR demonstrations.

This is the second Healthy Living event to be delivered in partnership with Peel House Medical Practice and the practice’s Patient Participation Group (PPG), which last year drew in more than 200 people.

Jean Battle, chairperson of the PPG, said there is currently a big focus on helping people to improve their health and wellbeing.

She said: “Everyone is welcome to the event.

“We hope to build on the success of last year’s event and welcome even more people this time round.”
