Pipe bursts leaving water overflowing in Accrington

A pipe under a main road near Accrington town centre has burst and is overflowing.

Water has been running down Burnley Road near the turn off to Pennyhouse Lane since around 7.30am this morning.

A spokeswoman for United Utilities said an engineer is dealing with the incident.

She added: "We do rely on people reporting these matters to us. It looks as though it is a burst water pipe. We are currently investigating the matter."
