Splurge guns will be at the ready as students prepare to perform the world-famous musical Bugsy Malone.

Performing arts students from Accrington and Rossendale College will bring 1920s depression-hit Chicago to Accrington from Tuesday, May 19 to Thursday, May 21.

Bugsy Malone was released as a musical film in 1976, directed by Alan Park and set in Chicago during the prohibition era from the early 1920s to 1931.

It is based loosly on the exploits of real-life gangsters like Al Capone and Bugs Moran and featured only child actors with singing voices provided by adults.

The music from the show was created by Paul Williams and features hit songs including ‘We’ve only just begun’ and ‘(Just an) old fashioned love song’.
