Brownies in Hyndburn are celebrating the centenary of Girlguiding with a series of events.

Girls aged seven to 10 dressed in onesies for their first meeting of the special year. Accrington Brownie leader Sarah Barton said the event was held to raise awareness of the anniversary among the girls.

She said: “We held the Onesie Day and we have created a special Brownie birthday challenge badge to raise more awareness.

“The celebrations will come to a finale in the summer when we will have a really big camping event.”

The group’s next event will be held on Thursday, March 27, when there will be an open evening at the United Reformed Church on Whalley Road, Accrington. Sarah said Brownies past and present are invited.
