A clergyman has denied any wrongdoing after being arrested on suspicion of being involved in the supply of drugs.

Pastor Frank Andrews, 54, who has preached at Hyndburn Christian Fellowship, said he was ‘not guilty of any offence’.

Pastor Andrews, from Haslingden, was arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of a class B drug at a property in Accrington.

Pastor Andrews told the Observer: “I am not guilty of the offence. I vehemently deny the allegation. I have not been involved in the supply of a Class B drug at all.

“The situation is being investigated. I have not been charged with anything.

“I believe the people who made these allegations have made them maliciously.

“I would never be involved with anything like that.”

A Lancashire Police spokesperson said: “A 54-year-old man from Haslingden was arrested on Sunday, April 10 at around 3pm on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of a class B drug.

“He was arrested at a property on Gloucester Avenue.”

He has been bailed until May 26.
