An old boys association has donated money to police cadets.
The Accrington Grammar School Old Boys Association donated £300 to the police staff of the Hyndburn and Ribble Valley Volunteer Cadets scheme.
It was agreed that the gift was to be spent locally.
The cheque was handed over at a recent Cadets awards ceremony by the Association’s officers, President Geoff Lund, Past President Alan Mitton and Treasurer John Ormerod.
The 560-strong Association exists to keep members in touch with former school friends.
The group also aims to to help broaden the education of today’s school pupils of both genders.
The Old Boys Association has previously given bursaries to students wishing to study foreign languages, as well as running an essay competition and giving out cricket bats to schools in the Accrington area.
Association member Bob Dobson said the group felt they had been well educated by the school and should support the area’s youngsters.
He said: “We feel we have had a great help in life from our school and we ought to pay something back.”
