The Blaze 'DROP'IN' festival will begin on Friday 23 October.

North West cultural project Blaze is to take over Accrington Library for a week-long arts festival.

The ‘DROP’IN’ festival will feature artwork, performances, talks and workshops running from Friday, October 23 to Friday, October 30.

The festival launch takes place on Friday 23 from 7pm to 9pm and offers the chance to preview all the exhibited artworks, as well the opportunity to meet the artists and curator Amy Lawrence.

Throughout the week there will be activities ranging from weaving workshops to den making, storytelling and painting.

The week-long transformation aims to turn the library into an arts platform in which artworks ‘attempt to create dialogues between the public, architecture, objects and resources that typically inhabit the library’.

The young artists participating in the project have created various pieces designed to challenge the traditional quiet nature of libraries.

Blaze works with young people from across Lancashire to engage creative communities in Libraries, Museums and Galleries.
