The Carnival Queen and Princess helped open a new £2 million pub and restaurant.

Dozens of people attended the official opening of The Brickworks, on Hyndburn Road in Accrington, which has created 50 full and part-time local jobs.

Carnival Queen Bethany Donohue and Carnival Princess Ellie Walsh were among the guest on Monday, July 20 to declare the facility, on the site of the former Arnold Clarke garage, open,

John Milnes, manager of The Brickworks, said it was a “fantastic first day”.

He said: “A crowd of locals watched on as The Carnival Queen and Princess of Accrington cut the ribbon. After the pub was opened we were super busy all day which is great.”

The Brickworks, run by Marston’s Inns and Taverns, has taken on 50 staff including graduates from Accrington and Rossendale College. It also includes a ‘Pizza Kitchen’, children’s play area and special food nights.
