Accrington Academy cheerleading troupe the Allstars are bidding to be best in the country as they prepare for the National Club championships later this month.
The Allstars made their mark competing in the regional ‘Jungle Fever’ event at Bolton Arena last year.
In November the Level 3 Senior Cheerleading Team took first place in their category.
Now they are hoping to replicate that success nationally when taking on the very best cheerleading teams from across the UK in the Club Championships.
The Allstars members range from 11 to 19 years old and combine acrobatic stunting and pyramids with tumbling, jumps and motions.
The troupe, which trains every week, will also take the younger level 1 team, who will be competing for the first time to the March event, as well as the senior Jazz team.
This features talented jazz dancers from the academy’s Sixth Form who will be performing their interpretation of ‘Bound to You’ by Christina Aguilera.
Accrington Academy Principal Andy O’Brien said: “A big thank you to everyone involved with the Accrington Academy Allstars – students, staff and parents alike.
“They have already seen their hard work rewarded with the troupe’s win in the Jungle Fever competition last year, which we’re sure can now be converted to a national title in March.”
The competition will be held at Nottingham Arena on March 21 and 22.
