HAUNTED households across Hyndburn donned witches hats and carved pumpkins for Halloween.

Around 100 children and parents took part in a Halloween party at Clayton-le-Moors and Altham Children’s Centre.

Mascot Quackers the Duck made an appearance as ‘Count Quackula’ to hand out certificates and prizes for the best dressed and for the pumpkin competition.

The party included a disco, craft activities, face painting and games. Accrington Lions held their annual family Halloween party at a new venue the Poplar Social Club on Wellington Street, Accrington where over 180 people attended. Families dressed in Halloween costumes for the occasion and there were three fancy dress categories.

The judging panel was made up of Carnival Queen Kimberley Robinson, Carnival Princess Dolcie Power and vice-President Lion Tracy Simmonds.

Entertainment was provided by Dynamic Disco and the event included party games and a pie supper.

Great Harwood Children’s Centre got into the Halloween spirit by holding a Pumpkin Fun session. More than 40 children, parents and carers carved their own pumpkins and enjoyed arts and craft activities with a Halloween theme. The Sparthfield Happy Day Nursery in Clayton-le-Moors held a Halloween fancy dress party for staff and children to enjoy games and a ­Halloween feast.
