The Civic Arts Centre and Theatre is asking for your votes to help them win a share of £10,000.

The Hyndburn Arts Trust, which manages arts in the borough, is seeking a grant from the Aviva Community Fund to expand a project to get young people involved in putting on shows in homes for the elderly.

The money would also be used to buy a van, trailer or minibus to help with transporting costumes and props.

Gayle Knight, from the Civic Arts Centre and Theatre, said: “The actual reason that we need the funding is more about transport.

“We don’t have any means to get the young people to the care homes at the moment. Whilst one or two of them are walkable distances they wouldn’t be easy to walk to carrying props and costumes.

“We rely on parents to help transport the young people but unfortunately they can only transport their own young people because they wouldn’t be insured to take others.

“So we would be relying on the good will of parents and family to transport they young people.”
