A weight loss champion who shed an incredible 12 stone in weight has been dubbed ‘The Biggest Loser in Clayton-le-Moors’.

Craig Stevenson, 53, is this year’s Clayton-le-Moors Slimming World 2015 winner after losing almost half his body weight.

Since walking through the doors of the Arthur Wilson Centre on Pickup Street in August 2013, Mr Stevenson has dropped from 26 stone to 14 stone and lost 20 inches from his waist.

Craig, who works at a manufacturing firm in Altham, described taking those first steps into the centre as ‘one of the hardest things ever’.

Mr Stevenson said: “I was embarrassed about my size and scared that I might be the biggest person there and the only man. I needn’t have worried, everyone was so friendly and I wasn’t the only man.”

Mr Stevenson has now been entered into a national competition which could see him win £3,000.

He said: “I didn’t lose weight to win a competition, I wanted to feel healthier and better about myself and I’ve done that.

“I feel great and that’s priceless.”
