Giant spiders are invading homes across Hyndburn - and here’s the proof.

Readers have been sending in their pictures of eight-legged monsters snapped across the borough.

It comes after experts had warned that giant spiders would be on the look out for a place to mate after a wet summer.

And the bad news for Arachnophobes is that females spiders heading indoors can lay hundreds of eggs which could lead to potential infestations.

Sightings included from Clayton-le-Moors and churches around Accrington.

Reader Lauren Holden said: “I’ve seen a lot of babies, the big ones I’ve seen a few this year, with only one or two escaping my cats.”

Beverley Murray added that she did a ‘Linford Christie sprint’ after finding a huge house spider crawling across her wall.

Giant House Spiders can sometimes grow up to 12 centimetres long.
