A former prison service and army worker has shaved his head to raise money for charity.
Paul Carter took part in Macmillan Cancer Support’s ‘Brave the Shave’ campaign by having his hair cut at the Pub Royale in Great Harwood.
The 54-year-old, who used to live in Great Harwood but now lives in Altham, said it was the ‘least he could do’.
Paul was supported on the night by friends and family and has doubled his fundraising target.
He originally aimed for £500 but has now raised about £1,000, with donations coming from as far as Turkey and America.
Paul said: “I’m a member of the Blue Knights Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club and quite a few members suffer from cancer and are undergoing treatment at the moment.
“They were my inspiration. It’s the least I can do. I saw something on Facebook about Brave the Shave and it seemed a simple thing to do.”
