Four armed masked men have raided a post office in Rising Bridge.
Police were called to the post office on Blackburn Road shortly after 11.05am this morning after reports of a robbery.
Inspector Duncan Arthur said: “We believe four offenders wearing masks entered the post office in Rising Bridge and made off with a quantity of cash.”
Lancashire Police said ‘weapons’ had been used, but not firearms.
Inspector Arthur added: “This is an ongoing incident and we are in the very early stages. No one has been injured and there has been no firearm used.”
Gary Holt, who was passing the post office this morning, said: “It’s a bit concerning, there are a lot of police officers on the scene, I’ve seen the dog unit and armed officers walking around.”
It comes four weeks after a separate incident at Rishton post office on Friday, June 5 where a post office worker was ‘restrained’ by robbers who then fled the premises with an unknown amount of cash.
Anyone with information is urged to call Lancashire Police on 101.
