A fun park event planned in Accrington next summer will NOT be going ahead, Hyndburn council has confirmed.

The event was advertised on Facebook, by Mega Value Fun Parks, as taking place at King George’s Playing Fields from August 12 to 21, 2016.

The advertised event promises a ‘fun-filled week for all ages’ with face painting, bouncy castles, a giant fun fair, sand pit and Disney characters.

However, the council said it will ‘not be taking place there’ as no permission has been granted. Coun Ken Moss, Hyndburn council’s cabinet member for leisure, said: “An event currently being advertised on Facebook, by Mega Value Fun Parks, featuring fairground rides running from August 12 to 21, 2016 on King Georges Playing Fields, has not been given permission by the council and will not be taking place there. No permission has been sought and it would not be granted so close to the football season.” The firm did not respond to a request for comment.

Mega Value Fun Parks, of Shaw, Oldham, contacted the Observer to point out it has no connection to the firm advertising the event.
