Beavers and Cubs from Clayton-le-Moors enjoyed a fun day out at Bowley Scout Camp.

Around 60 members of the 1st All Saints group attended the Woodsage Outdoors camp in Great Harwood and took part in a multi-activity day.

Group leader Claire Rothwell said they enjoyed various activities including zip lining, the ‘leap of faith’, rifle shooting, archery, paracord crafts and learning to light fires with a flint and steel.

The youngsters also cooked round a campfire making a bannock on a hot griddle and toasting marshmallows and smores - a traditional camping snack.

She said: “Everyone had a fantastic day and enjoyed being able to try out some adventurous activities and learn new skills. The Scout Group are currently working on their float for Accrington Carnival.

“The Beavers, Cubs and Scouts have been getting involved in papier maching and painting props to go on the float and are all excited to be taking part.

“During the summer term, we have a sponsored bike ride coming up, canoeing, skateboarding, climbing and grass sledging.”
