Fireworks have been targeted at a police car and a residential home for vulnerable people in Accrington.
Police said they are a part of a series of firework incidents in the Central area off Blackburn Road involving a group of up to around 30 youths.
Officers attending an incident at Matalan car park were struck by a firework at around 8.30pm on Wednesday, October 21.
Other incidents have been reported on Countess Street and a residential home for vulnerable people was targeted on Monday, October 26.
PC Dave Render: “We are aware of youths of Asian heritage causing problems in the area and we are working with local mosques and the community to identify the offenders.
“They have got to understand the dangers as they are explosives and in the wrong hands could harm others or themselves. We are also working with trading standards to stop any businesses that maybe illegally selling fireworks to people under 18.”
Hyndburn Police said several youths have already been identified by the neighbourhood policing team and have been ‘visited at their respective home addresses and dealt with accordingly’.
