A pie-mad bride has celebrated her big day with a three-tier ‘pie cake’ and a trip to a pie factory.

Jenna Wallis, 34, grew up next to Holland’s Pies on Manchester Road, Baxenden and has been obsessed with the pastry treats ever since.

Love was in the air when she met cigarette salesman Stephen Tobin, 35, who shared her passion for pies.

Jenna and Stephen’s ‘Pie Do’ ceremony saw 150 guests chomp their way through hundreds of pies at the reception at Statham Lodge Hotel in Lymm, Cheshire.

Jenna’s big day included a Holland’s Pies van driven by Adam Grey to take her to the ceremony, while her wedding cake was the shape of a three-tier pie. The guests got pies aplenty and her honeymoon will include a trip to the pie factory.

Jenna, who works as a sister on a critical care unit at a Manchester hospital, reckons she has eaten two Holland’s pies a week for more than 30 years, despite still weighing in at less than nine stone.

She said: “The significance of the pies for myself is strong. I remember the gorgeous smell of them cooking at 4 o’clock in the afternoons and that left a lasting impression on me. I’ve never wanted to work in a pie factory, but we’re going there for our honeymoon.

“The vans have changed a bit since my childhood, but they are still magical. We had guests from the USA and London, so the Lancashire pies for the reception were fantastic.”

William Smith-Coats, Holland’s sales and marketing director, said: “Jenna could be starting a trend. Holland’s Pies are already popular in lots of places, so wedding catering could be next on our production line.

“This will be the first time though that we’ve had a honeymoon at the factory.”
