Cases heard at Blackburn Magistrates Court:

  • Charlotte Emily Johns, 24, of Craven Street, Accrington, pleaded guilty to failing to provide a specimen of breath for analysis, resisting a police officer in the execution of her duty and using a car without insurance and a test certificate. She was fined £240, ordered to pay £85 costs and disqualified from driving for 16 months, reduced by 16 weeks if she completes a course approved by the Secretary of State.

  • Teresa Williams, 50, of Wordsworth Road, Accrington, pleaded guilty to failing to notify Hyndburn Council of a change in circumstances affecting her entitlement to housing benefit and failing to notify the Department for Work and Pensions of a change in circumstance affecting her entitlement to income support. She was given a 12-month conditional discharge.

  • Judith Onouorah, 47, of Station Road, Huncoat, pleaded guilty of failing to notify Hyndburn Council of a change in circumstances affecting her entitlement to housing benefit. She was given a 12-month community order with 100 hours unpaid work and ordered to pay £85 costs.

  • Darren Martin Prestage, 31, of Burnley Road, Clayton-le-Moors, pleaded guilty of dangerous driving. He was given a 16-week jail sentence, suspended for 12 months with a 12-month supervision requirement, 30-day rehabilitation activity requirement, ordered to pay £500 costs and disqualified from driving for 15 months.

  • Carl Wogden, 53, of Canal Street, Church, pleaded guilty of being drunk and disorderly in a public place. He was given a six-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £85 costs.
  • Shauna Louise Graham, 24, of Springfield Road, Great Harwood, pleaded guilty to using a television without a licence. She was fined £40 and ordered to pay £120 costs.

  • Joseph McBlain, 35, of Howarth Avenue, Church, was found guilty in his absence of using a television without a licence. He was fined £220 and ordered to pay £120 costs.

  • James Parry, 33, of Blackburn Road, Great Harwood, was found guilty in his absence of using a television without a licence. He was fined £220 and ordered to pay £120 costs.

  • Parveen Ziarab, 39, of Richmond Hill Street, Accrington, was found guilty in her absence of using a television without a licence. She was fined £220 and ordered to pay £120 costs.

  • Jonathan James Read, 33, of Queens Road West, Accrington, pleaded guilty to criminal damage and assault by beating. He was given a four-week jail sentence, suspended for 12 months with a supervision requirement, 20-day rehabilitation activity requirement and ordered to pay £200 compensation and £85 costs.

  • Julian Mark Briggs, 45, of Spring Hall, Clayton-le-Moors, pleaded guilty to making a false statement to the Department for Work and Pensions with a view to obtaining disability living allowance. He was given a 14-week community order with a curfew requirement and ordered to pay £1,000 compensation.

  • William John Allison, 68, of Cartmel Avenue, Accrington, was found guilty of using a mobile phone while driving. He was fined £60, ordered to pay £350 costs and given three points on his driving licence.
